Creating a memorial to Honor the Veterans of Buchanan County
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, THE GUNS FELL SILENT AND NOT ALL CAME HOME.
The war to end all wars, World War I, ended at 11a.m. on November 11. 1918. November 11th was established as Armistice Day and later named Veteran's Day to recognize the valor and sacrifice of those who served our country.
Any veteran, not just from Buchanan County, may be recognized with the purchase of a paver or bench.
Below is the proposed layout of the memorial that will be located in the front lawn of the Buchanan County Courthouse.
The memorial will include benches and pavers that may be purchased and monument panels.
Drawings and plans are subject to change.
